OK, today, I think, is Day 11 in my kick-the-sugar-habit campaign,
So it’s time for an update.
Here it is:
So far, so good.
As of today’s weigh-in, I’m down six pounds from when I started, which ain’t bad.
It hasn’t always been easy resisting those sweet urges.
The other day, there was a Dairy Queen commercial on TV advertising their new caramel drumstick blizzard.
You gotta be kidding me …
I love caramel drumsticks. I can eat two or three of ’em, easy.
Caramel drumstick blizzard???
Gimme a damn large, please!!!
Later that same day, I was driving home from a meeting a little after 9 o’clock, and I actually passed a Dairy Queen at an intersection, and cars were lined up at the damn drive-through. Probably all getting a caramel drumstick blizzard.
Seriously???
I thought about it for a few seconds, but knew I’d regret it, and moseyed on home.
Ice cream is a particular weakness — one of many, I’m afraid — and so I came up with something: frozen protein shakes.
I made a banana and peanut butter protein shake (ice cubes, water, banana, peanut butter, protein powder) and stuck it in the freezer for a while until it was almost like eating ice cream.
Right now, I have a banana and strawberry one in the freezer for later.
Now, someone pointed out earlier during this kick-the-sugar-habit effort that sugar is not an evil thing.
True.
But for some of us, it can become a bad habit.
